Watch Video: Local outjie, Jaden leaving for New Zealand

Jaden Breytenbach, the head boy of Hoërskool Standerton, has received an exciting offer to play for the Hikurangi RFC and Northland Taniwha High-Performance U/19 team in New Zealand for the 2024 season.

This is a remarkable achievement for Jaden, who will be leaving for New Zealand at the end of January 2024 to begin his pre-season training with Hikurangi RFC.

Hikurangi RFC, founded in 1894, boasts a rich history and has won over 30 senior championships.

The club is located in the town of Hikurangi, just north of Whangarei, which is approximately a two-hour drive from Auckland.

Jaden will have the opportunity to showcase his skills and contribute to the success of this esteemed club during the season, which runs from March to June.

Following a well-deserved two-week break in July, Jaden will then join the Northland Taniwha HPA U/19 team until September.

Established in 1920 and formerly known as the North Auckland Rugby Union, the Northland Taniwha HPA has a proud legacy of producing talented players.

To date, the team has seen 32 All Black (New Zealand) players and an additional 61 provincial players emerge from its ranks.

Jaden’s selection for these prestigious teams in New Zealand is a testament to his dedication, skill, and hard work.

We wish Jaden the best of luck as he embarks on this exciting journey and represents Standerton and South Africa on the international rugby stage.
